About Vancouver

The Sights and Sounds of Vancouver, BCVancouver is rich with places and activities that will excite just about any avid traveller. As it is one of the largest cities in Canada, a little information can go a long way when planning a trip to such a beautiful place. Here are some of our suggestions on what to see and what to do in Vancouver:

Vancouver is situated near the mountains and is a city equipped with facilities for entertainment and fun. The city is not only open for the fun-seeking and adventurous travelers but it also entices the shopaholic and the avid bar hopper. One place that people should see when visiting Vancouver is The Lookout. One of the most visible landmarks of this vast and contemporary metropolitan, The Lookout offers a 360 degree panoramic view of the city due to its massive height of about 169 meters. There are usually hourly tours offered to anyone curious to know about Vancouver’s historical sites, attraction and history.

Another must-see location in Vancouver is Canada Place. Canada Place can be found on Vancouver’s waterfront. It’s a leviathan-like structure that has five white sails-like figures that face the harbor. Like The Lookout, it offers a great view of the city. It is also where the CN IMAX Theatre, the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the Pan Pacific Hotel can be found. Many go to this place for entertainment but there is also a wide selection of shops that can be found here.

Robson Street, situated at the center of downtown Vancouver, is frequented by shopaholics. This shopping and entertainment street not only provides the premier fashion shops for those who love to be in on what’s new but it also is the place for good food with the classy ambience for a perfect fine dining experience. Close to Robson Street, the Granville Entertainment District is for those who like the fun nightlife of dancing and bar hopping.

Vancouver’s own Stanley Park boasts of beautifully landscaped gardens, playgrounds for children to run around on, picnic sites, fine dining, breathtaking landmarks, nature, sports and recreation, and greens---lots of greens for the eco-loving traveler to feast his eyes upon. An all-purpose park, like this one, is the perfect destination for those who would just like to hang around and take in the scenery. It’s also the place to be for those who would like to have fun with the family on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The heights may be a bit scary but it’s like being on a field of greens whenever you’re walking across the sturdy Capilano Suspension Bridge. Not only do you experience nature at its best in this place but beyond the Capilano Suspension Bridge is a place to rest, shop (if you still can drum up the energy to do so after the exhilarating trip across the bridge) and dine.

The North Shore Mountains provide fabulous venues for those with active lifestyles who would love to take in some beautiful scenery. Less than half an hour from the city, they are perfect for those who love to hike, bike, ski and or just take in the beauty of the Coastal Mountains. Another great spot is Vancouver’s Sea Wall Promenade. It has a five mile stretch around Stanley Park that helps shape up the avid cyclists, joggers and in-line skaters.

For those who love the beach, another favorite family destination in Vancouver is Kitsilano Beach. Aside from the wonderful shores where the kids can run around and play with fine sand, it also houses the longest outdoor swimming pool in the country. It’s a place that not only the adults enjoy but the kids, too!
